Vaccine Research Award

The Global Health Consortium/Department of Global Health, Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work at Florida International University (FIU) invite researchers in vaccine innovation and development to apply for the Vaccine Research Award, created as an incentive to boost the contributions and projects of Latin American researchers.

The Vaccine Research Award is an opportunity to promote and recognize scientific talent and excellence in research to projects in the categories of vaccine innovation and development.

This is the first edition of the award, and the call for applications will be open until July 15, 2024. Interested researchers from different institutions in Latin America are invited to submit their research papers, if they meet the following criteria:

Submission criteria and eligibility:

Submissions are open to the following areas exclusively in the field of vaccines:

  • Innovation
  • Development (up to Phase 3)
  • Biotechnology

Only works developed in research centers, academic entities, and national health institutions in Latin America may participate.

The research papers presented must be original, unpublished, or recently published (between 2022-2024).

It is mandatory to mention the source of funding obtained for the work.

Evaluation:

All papers will be evaluated by an independent Evaluation Committee, assisted by peers, which will consider the academic quality of the work, its originality, the methodology used, the results obtained, and its contribution to the generation of knowledge in medical and health sciences.

 Those works that do not meet the guidelines and requirements of the call, will not be considered.

 The decision of the review committee is final and cannot be appealed.

Literature reviews or case report publications, as well as theses, will not be accepted.

 Award:

The award consists of a diploma and US$5,000.00 (five thousand US dollars) for the winning research work.

The award ceremony will take place at the 2024 Global Health Conference to be held in Miami, from September 3 to 5, 2024.

The awardee will be notified of the decision by August 15, 2024

The name of the awardee will be announced on the day of the award ceremony, and it will be publicized accordingly.

The awardee is expected to attend the award ceremony; travel expenses (flight and accommodation) will be offered by FIU.

All works will receive a certificate of participation.

Submission guidelines:

  • The paper must be written in Spanish or English,
  • It should have a maximum length of 2500 words, including titles and subtitles, excluding references, tables (maximum 2), and figures (maximum 1), following the structure:
    • Title (all caps)
    • Authors (full name of each author, in French format: first & middle name in “Title Case”, last name in CAPS.
    • Authors affiliations (referenced after the name of each author, if more than one institution is involved)
    • Structure: Introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions
    • All papers must be submitted in pdf (text & tables), figures may be uploaded in jpg.
    • Font: Arial, 12, 1.5 spacing

All submissions will be treated confidentially by the organization and evaluators. The content of the submissions will not be disclosed to any third parties without the explicit consent of the authors.
