Immunizations

Immunizations are one of the safest and most cost-effective ways of preventing deaths and improving lives. Vaccinations are now reaching more than 80 percent of children under the age of one year. In 2017, 116.2 million children were immunized, the highest ever reported. Since 2010, 113 countries have introduced new vaccines, and more than 20 million additional children have been vaccinated. Nevertheless, 1 child dies every 20 seconds from a disease that could have been prevented by a vaccine because 1 in 5 children in the world do not have access to the life-saving immunizations that keep children healthy.
